To replace the thermostat on a 2.4L engine, start by disconnecting the battery cable from the negative terminal. Then, drain the cooling system. Follow the upper radiator hose to locate the thermostat housing. Loosen the hose clamp and detach the hose from the thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing and the thermostat itself. Clean the mating surfaces, install the new thermostat with a new gasket, and reattach the housing. Refill the cooling system, start the engine, and check for leaks and thermostat operation.

Start by disconnecting the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s) and draining the cooling system. The location of the thermostat housing varies depending on the engine type. Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine for the 3.6L engine and the 5.7L and 6.4L Hemi engine. For the 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines, follow the lower radiator hose to the engine. For the diesel engine, follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. Remove the necessary components to access the thermostat housing. Squeeze the tabs on the hose clamp to loosen it and detach the hose(s) from the thermostat housing. If the hose is stuck, twist it with adjustable pliers to break the seal. Remove the thermostat housing from the engine and remove the thermostat. Install a new rubber gasket around the thermostat and insert it into the thermostat housing. Install the thermostat housing and bolts onto the engine, then reattach the hose(s) and tighten the hose clamp(s) securely. Refill the cooling system, start the engine, and check for leaks and proper thermostat operation.
