How to Remove the Steering Wheel on Ram 3500?Posted by Customer
    A:

To remove the airbag module, start by parking the vehicle with the front wheels straight. Disconnect the negative battery terminal(s) and wait for the electrical system to discharge. Remove the upper steering column cover and lower the steering column fully. Turn the steering wheel to bring each of the three airbag retaining clips to the top position, then use a small screwdriver to pry and release them. Pull the airbag module out enough to reach the wiring harnesses at the rear and carefully disconnect them. Lift off the airbag module. Remove the steering wheel bolt and mark the relationship of the steering wheel to the steering shaft. Use a jaw-type puller to remove the steering wheel, detaching the wires and feeding them through the wheel as you remove it. If necessary, unplug the electrical connector for the clockspring and remove the screws to lift it from the steering column. When installing the clockspring, ensure it is centered with the arrows on the rotor and case lined up. Installation is the reverse of removal, making sure the clockspring is centered before installing the steering wheel. Align the marks on the shaft and steering wheel hub, install a new steering wheel bolt, and tighten it. Finally, enable the airbag system.
